What is Canned Radio?
Canned Radio is a tool for internet radio websites. It provides easy access to your stream's information to display on your website without any scripting. Canned Radio becomes the host of your website. In return, you can show information about your station directly on your website as easily as typing [DJName] in your HTML. One of the most tedious jobs of running an internet radio station is maintaining the web site. Every time staffing changes, the website changes. Passwords might change to keep prior staff members causing problems. Usually there is only one person that has control of the web site making your station more like work than fun.
Canned Radio provides the ability for everyone at the station to have a part in maintaining the web site.
DJ's can maintain their own bio's and self portrait, kick the server feeds, and upload and maintain their own play-list. Managers might maintain the broadcasting schedule, events, and any custom pages you create. The admin users can create new positions and assign privileges for them. Need an Events Coordinator that only has access to the Events page? You can make one!
Canned Radio makes it possible for any staff member to kick the source stream without giving out the password. This makes DJ hand-offs and "Auto DJ" interruptions easier than ever. Canned Radio provides an account for each staff member which can be deleted when he or she leaves. No passwords to change and no mass station messages with new passwords every time a staffing change occurs.
Previously, stations needed to have a "Web savvy" person on staff in order to write or implement scripts used to display information such as the current song name and DJ on the web site. Canned Radio does this automatically. Simply place the required "Station Markup" such as [songName] where you'd like to see the information.
